What is your opinion of human edited search engine over google?
Would you trust them more if every results display is based on the keyword you enter is done by human being, instead of algorithm. What kind of disadvantages /problems you may expect from human edited search engine?
just would not work today, it would require an army of people due to the amount of sites, plus it would be too unreliable
How do i get my web page to display top 10 on search engine?
First, make sure that you submit your website to the search engines. It takes anywhere from 2 weeks to even 6 months for websites to show up in the search engines. In some cases, a website will show up after 2 weeks of being online, only to disappear for maybe 3-6 months (which is called Google sandbox, though Yahoo to a certain extent also does)
Ranking high in the search engines, however, is a tougher ballgame. Search engines look at the following factors in ranking websites, though in varying degrees of importance:
- Age = an older site stand a higher chance of getting better rankings than newer sites because they are more established (especially if considered an authority in the field) and a lot more incoming links
- Quality and Uniqueness of the Content = sites rank well if they have content that users consider relevant and original, not rehashed or using content used by hundred other websites (e.g. articles in article submission directories)
- Keyword density = number of times the keyword appears on the site. This also includes having the keywords in important places such as the title, metatags, even H1s and H2s
- How it fares in the results = when it comes up in the search engines, are people clicking on it or not. If not, search engines consider the site to be not relevant to the keyword. Also, how long does the user stay on the site; if they hit the back button immediately, then the site may not be relevant to the search term
- Site structure = on-page factors to sitemaps
- Backlinks = who are linking to the site and what are their quality (the more authoritative the site linking to your site, the better).
If you are going to read only one piece on search engine optimization, I suggest you read Brett Tabke of WebmasterWorld.com’s "Successful Site in 12 Months with Google Alone: 26 steps to 15k a day." http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum3/2010.htm
WebmasterWorld.com http://www.webmasterworld.com has different sections that cover various aspects of search engine optimization, and each section is participated in by respected webmasters and even search engine employees (e.g. there’s a GoogleGuy that responds to Google topics)

SEM - search engine marketing?
i have an interview tomorrow and need a crash course on SEM. what is it, what is it used for? what are some tools associted with it? any information is well appreciated.
SEM is "search engine marketing." It includes both SEO (search engine optimization) and PPC Search (pay-per-click advertising).
There are many, many great web resources available, as well as some great books. Google itself has some great resources, but it has many secrets that you must learn elsewhere. SEM is really not something you learn by reading about — you pretty much MUST learn by actually doing it (optimizing a web site for search indexing, or running a pay-per-click campaign on Google AdWords or elsewhere).
For PPC Search, I generally don’t use many "tools" apart from Google’s AdWords Editor, and its Keyword Tool, but there are HUNDREDS of software packages designed to manage bidding and keywords and ad variations, and analyze results.
For SEO, there are many "tools" offered for sale, but I absolutely believe that SEO starts as a "mindset" or "attitude," and that the attitude must always be, "design a web site to be useful to humans." I avoid "SEO tricks" that might work this month, but which might result in penalties once Google realizes that the trick doesn’t reflect genuine relevance or usefulness to consumers.
I hope you’re not planning to try to "fake it" and pretend you have knowledge and experience that you lack. SEM is a complex field and requires incredible attention to detail and analytical skill.
Does anyone know anything about search engine optimization?
I have a online business that I would like to get more hits than I getting now. I am having trouble getting my site listed on the search engines. I have checked various companies online but get various answers and costs.
I know a little bit of it. Put keywords on your website. For more info e-mail my webmaster friend at B_lack_shadow@yahoo.com
What is search engine optimization and marketing?
"search engine optimization" is the process of attempting to make a website come up for keywords within a search engines "free" listings. This entail changes to the pages and structure of a site, as well as creating links that point to the site.
Many people believe that "search engine marketing" refers to the paid listings on a search engine, such as Google AdWords.
I (and others) see "search engine Marketing" as referring to working with both types of listings, free and paid.
What would you like to see added to a new search engine?
What do you like or dislike about the search engines of: Google, MSN, Yahoo, Answer.com, Alexa.com and Overture? This might include their sections of- Images, Directory, Video, News, Maps and so on. What one thing or more would you like to see added to a search engine? In other words what one thing would draw you to a new search engine and keep you as a visitor?
I like Yahoo because I can glance at current news without much effort. Also weather is right there and I see today’s stock market. If I want to read more about the stock, the link is right there, too. I also like horoscopes. It has pretty much everything I need and I also use Yahoo email, so, I doubt if I would ever change my homepage.
How do I get Better Travel at the top of the search engine rankings cheaply.[ ie page 1 ].?
I assume you are referring to the travel sites. They will list the results that fit your search the best. Then from there you will have the option to change how you want the results to appear. I.e. lowest price first, etc. This way you can find the best hotel for you.
I hope this answers your question
what does it mean when you have automatic Internet traffic without search engine?
my site has had traffic since i establish it 3 months ago, just a idea didn’t think it would work need more input next step.
Check your log files to see where the traffic is coming from. It is best to get web-based web log to make it easier on your to view and analyze what is happening. Also, taking a look at your conversions to ensure that the traffic that is coming is the right traffic and they are buying.
What is the most cost effective way to improve Search-Engine Optimization?
Would also be interested in Web hosting and adding flash to our site…again, most cost effective.
As many backlinks as possible, PageRank (also known as PR) is mainly effected by the amount of other pages with a high PR backlinking you; also meta and keyword use is important. Creating sitemaps and submiting them to google and on your site allowing engine robots to crawl will drasicly increase your visability. Also know that newer domains are not as recognized as older ones, there is a period of time which your domain has to be active and updated and often crawled by search spiders.
Good luck.
Internet Marketing, SEO - Search Engine Optimization what questions would you have?
Hello friends.
My name is Ivan from Toronto, Canada. I am a copywriter for a SEO company located in Montreal, Quebec.
Me and my colleagues have run into a little dilemma and I was wondering if you could assist us with your expertise.
We are a search engine optimization company, and are currently working of a FAQ section of our site and by our very nature tend to ask more technical, advanced questions and are afraid of overlooking the obvious. Since SEO is quite a niche practice, I was wondering if you could give us a hand and ask a couple of questions.
SEO – search engine optimization, what would be the questions you would ask if you came across that phrase. For Example:
- What is it?
- Who does do?
- and so on, anything that comes to your mind will be of great value to us.
We would greatly appreciate any questions on your part, no matter how small or big! Anything that can help us get that FAQ up there!
I will try to answer all of them. Thank you, hope to hear from you
