I want to create a job search engine for local people in my area not globally like these companies. Does anyone know what resources I can go to so that I can have step-by-step instructions? Does someone know themselves how to do it? Thanks!

You could download and install a "job board in a box" solution, like http://www.jobberbase.com/, and then pay for some custom development to back-fill it with jobs from a larger source (like LinkUp’s API at http://www.linkup.com/developers/) - because people won’t use your site if when they arrive there aren’t jobs on it. Backfilling fixes the chicken-and-the-egg problem that comes with starting a job board.

I read an article this week and then heard mention of something on the news as well. One of the most popular search engines has been criticized for censoring and not giving people certain answers, particularly when it comes to political questions and things of that nature.

What search engine to you use more frequently?
Do you ever experiment and seek information using other search engines? Is so, what the the ones you use more regularly?
Note that I put this in politics and the accusations were with regard to political searches.

Sweetie, the censoring has been happening for a while.
When I really got involved in this forum during the 2008 elections, I would find an incriminating article or video about His Majesty, bookmark it, and it would be gone in a matter of days, if not hours.
My answers have been deleted with regards to Internet Czar, nothing outside of the Terms….
I don’t know if it’s any particular search engines, although granted Google is literally in bed with the current administration, and they probably all have a vested interest ($$$) in "net neutrality."
Disgusting. But what I noticed were actual newspaper articles, from the Chicago Trib, for example, that went missing.

Any recommendations for at least a solid and trustworthy search engine marketing tool? Any tips and tricks?

There are many, many resources, guides and tutorials to learn the basics of SEO. It would be difficult to recommend one over the other. If you’re looking for a specific step-by-step guide I can recommend www.seoborn.com. It’s very inexpensive and I’ve actually gotten positive results with this guide, which is more than I can say for many of the products that I’ve used!

I finally made my program and finally made my website. I did everything that I needed to do. Now all I need is search engine visibility. According to some internet articles, I can make lots of sites link back to my site. But that requires signing up and that takes forever to do. So I’m looking for a way to make my site visible in a short amount of time. Any way that I can do that? Thanks in advance.

Google is apparently the best one, one can have..I haven’t tried Google wave yet but wonder if a search engine could have more features with its main work ’search results’.. For example, sth which allows you to do social interaction with other users who search for the same thing you search for.. Life would be easy right.. Need you ‘Internet geeks’ help!!

What is the search engine? And if you downloaded a game, you must uninstall it, not just delete it. Go to Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel and find your game. Click to remove it, but before you do, see if your strange search engine is also listed. I don’t think it will be, but if it is, you will need to remove it also. After removing whatever programs you need to get rid of, close the control panel and restart your computer so the changes will take effect.

As to slowing your computer, we really need to know what the program is to answer that.

I just downloaded Bing another search engine or something with windows live. I’m not sure if it downloaded, however I can’t seem to get google back as my search engine only bing. How do I set google as my default search engine. Thank you!

My only hurdle is that I don’t know how to get a search engine for the actual blog search function. I can’t find any info on it either. I don’t know if Id have to have my own crawler built or if I can just pay someone to plug the search into my site. Can anyone help please? I know I could use Google Custom Search but it doesn’t have the flexibility that I need.

How do I take yahoo off as my default search engine? Google is my homepage, and I want it as my search engine too.

on the toolbar top of your web page
file~edit~view~history~bookmarks~tools
click on tools
then click on options
on optionspage
2nd box down(home) it will say http://yahoo~~~
delete yahoo and type in http://google.com
you can make anything your home page by typing it in the box
